Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries during 1966, after he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" that was utilized to lower and raise the hoist. This mechanism greatly impressed a lot of clients and hence, the name was born.
Genie has moved into many new markets, as the demand for lifts and work platforms grew. Over time, when the requirements for new equipment to meet many applications grew, the company made itself known in numerous new markets. For instance, Genie went into manufacturing articulated booms, light towers, man-lifts, telehandlers and stick booms.
Genie decided to obtain a partner who had the same values as a result of the economic downturn in the start of the 2000s, when they partnered along with Terex. This company has a history obtaining equipment manufacturers throughout the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
Due to the Genie name and its solid reputation in the workplace, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand as part of the Terex Aerial Work Platforms. This was only decided after the initial few years following the sale. Thus, all Genie machines continue to be marketed under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in taking advice from and listening to their customers. Genie has always been continually dedicated to improving the quality and efficiency in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on providing exceptional support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand name over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line equipment.
Genie's DC and Bi-Energy equipment are emission-free, quiet machines capable of working in delicate work environments. Where the machinery should be driven significant distances, like within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator along with the benefits of a 48V DC equipment.
Compared to any of the various kinds of aerial platforms, telescopic booms provide more horizontal reach overall. These machines are great for limited access areas in construction and other industrial settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to offer utmost productivity. These machines provide supreme traction and the drive speed you require to be able to travel around the job area and work site.
