Forklift Motors

Buying a forklift is not to be taken lightly. A forklift is a huge capital expenditure, and a complex equipment with a motor strong enough to carry out heavy-lifting tasks. The price tag for a forklift ranges from $10,000 to $30,000, comparable to the cost of a small truck. If purchasing a used forklift, be certain to have it checked for potential mechanical problems.

The two kinds of forklift motors are: internal combustion or electric. Forklifts with electric motors are normally more pricey compared to those with internal combustion motors. The motor size should suit the kind of work for which the forklift would be utilized. A forklift with a big motor costs a lot more than one with a motor which is smaller.

Propane or gasoline powered motors are usually stronger compared to electric motor and are capable of lifting heavier weight. The disadvantage is that gas motors tend to develop issues more frequently compared to electric motors. Depending upon the price of propane or gas, gas powered forklifts could be more costly to run compared to electric powered forklifts.

Reputable forklift manufacturers consist of Crown Equipment Corp., Mitsubishi Caterpillar, Toyota Industries and NACCO Industries. Prior to making a decision, research the different manufacturers and the availability of parts. Reviews, testimonials and prices could be found on line.
