Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to store supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage areas orderly. The reach truck is available in several models: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The most basic kind is the stand-up. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are only one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This model consists of telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not just slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This model is ideal in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
In nearly all warehouses, there are normally more than one kind of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities utilize various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and could increase production while maximizing available storage space.
