Types of Hydraulic Cranes
Amongst the most common cranes in the construction industry is hydraulic cranes. They are used to make everything from skyscrapers and buildings to roadways and freeway overpasses.
There is a huge variety of crane units, styles and sizes available on the market. There are many different types in order to serve a variety of different reasons within the business. Choosing the right type of crane is really crucial for making certain that the material can be safely and efficiently transported to the location it has to get to in order for the construction process to begin.
Truck Cranes
Normally, truck cranes have 2 different cabs. One cab is for controlling the crane and the other is for driving the truck when the unit is in transport mode. These cranes are extremely useful for building locations where a crane is required in many different locations for the duration of the build. This is due to the fact that the crane can be easily driven from one location to another.
In addition, the cranes can be transported to different construction sites on the road since they can drive themselves and this eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own greatly lessens transport expenses at the end of the day.
The truck crane on the other hand is not stable enough to handle all the major loads that a hydraulic crane can handle. Thus, to be able to fix this problem, outriggers can be extended from the deck. The outriggers utilize hydraulic pressure in order to lift the truck slightly off of the ground, making it balanced and stable.
Crawler-Mounted Cranes
Crawler cranes feature huge tracks on the base of the crane. These huge tracks are similar to the ones seen on other construction machinery like backhoes and bulldozers. The tracks allow the crane to successfully move around a construction locations.
