Jungheinrich LP Forklift San Francisco

The lift truck is an essential piece of machinery in most businesses that operate distribution centers, warehouses, storage handling and industrial facilities. This great machinery, the lift truck is constructed of numerous components, including the important carriage, the engine, the power source and the wheels. Lift trucks generally have various kinds of attachments also. The following are several of the most essential components of a lift truck.

Lift Truck Engine - At the rear of the equipment, the forklift has its power source. The various types of engine on the forklift will require varying power sources. Like for example, a forklift with an internal combustion engine can have any of the following as its source of power: LP gas, CNG gas, diesel or gasoline. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.

Frame of The Truck - the base of the lift truck and the most essential of all the lift truck components is the truck frame. This forms the core of the equipment. All other components of a forklift are attached to the base, including the counterweight, overhead guard, mast, wheels and axles. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks may also be part of the frame assembly.

Counterweight Lift Truck Parts - the counterweight is what enables the machinery to be balanced while lifting heavy cargo. This part is made of heavy cast iron and is attached to the rear-end of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame so as to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. In an electric forklift, the heavy lead-acid battery gives balance and can work as part of the counterweight.

The Cab Area - this area is where the operator sits and drives the equipment. Several lift trucks have a cab area which is open to the air and several have closed cabs. There are lots of parts located within the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such essential parts like the steering wheel, operator controls, seats, pedals, switches and levers. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
