Forklift Tire Specs
Forklifts have been an essential tool in commercial businesses and industry ever since the year 1917. During its history the forklift has changed through different kinds, from a simple tractor with a platform attachment to a specialized high-tech equipment. Forklift tires have also evolved into particular tires, with different types designed to meet specific functions.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is constructed of solid polyurethane or rubber and is suitable for indoor applications on smooth surfaces. The cushion tire tread is bonded or pressed onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated for different load capacities and for ease of steering. Cushion tires are usually utilized in warehouse settings.
Pneumatic Tires
Foam or air is utilized to fill pneumatic forklift tires. They come in two kinds: bias or radial. Depending upon the application, they are available with different sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Pneumatic forklift tires which are filled with foam are less susceptible to punctures and maintain constant pressures. Pneumatic tires are usually utilized outdoors on surfaces that are rough and uneven.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
The comfortable ride that pneumatic tires provide together with the puncture resistance that solid tires provide are the combined features of Solid Pneumatic Hybrid Tires. They are a great alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Large rubber tires, that could either be pneumatic, foam or solid, are utilized on wheel loader forklifts. These tires are best for moving and loading heavy objects into processing equipment or onto trucks. Large flotation pneumatic tires are suited for masted rough terrain forklifts normally utilized at lumberyards, construction locations and automobile recyclers.
